How to Clean Your FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer

After you seal food with your FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer, you should clean the inside. Dry food can leave crumbs inside the sealer, and wet food can fill the tray with liquid. Here’s how to clean your FoodSaver Vacuum sealer, in easy steps.

Before You Start

Before you begin to clean your FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer, please read these important notes:

  • CHECK THE GUIDE: For product maintenance details and tips for your model, check your FoodSaver manual, and follow any specific instructions in that guide.
  • WARNING: Never immerse the FoodSaver unit in water, or any other liquid. The following instructions show how to remove the trays, which can be washed.
  • CLEANERS: Use a mild dishwashing soap and a warm, damp cloth. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners or materials to clean any part of the FoodSaver

How to Clean Your FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer

Here are the written steps that explain how to clean your FoodSaver Vacuum sealer.

Part 1 – Open the FoodSaver

  • Turn off the FoodSaver, and unplug it.
  • Do NOT immerse the FoodSaver unit in liquid
  • Clear the countertop around the machine, so you’ll have room to open it up
  • If possible, move the FoodSaver so you are close to the sink, or another place where you can dump any liquid that is in the machine’s trays
  • Open the front panel
  • Press the 2 green buttons (one at each side), and carefully lower the top part of the machine.

Clean the Bottom Drip Tray

  • Find the drip tray in the bottom section, and push the two black handles {one at each end of the tray} toward the centre
  • Carefully lift up the tray, keeping it as straight as possible, to prevent spilling the contents
  • Dump the tray’s contents into the sink
  • Wash the tray with warm water and a small amount of mild dish detergent
  • Rinse with clear, warm water, and dry the tray thoroughly
  • To put the drip tray back into the machine, put the right end of the tray in first, then firmly snap down the left side.

Wipe the Gaskets

There are foam gaskets around the bottom drip tray, and around the bag detector tray at the top.

  • Use a warm, damp dishcloth to wipe the top and bottom gaskets, to remove any food particles
  • Use a warm, damp dishcloth to wipe the roller, to remove any food particles

Clean the Upper Bag Detection Tray

  • Find the bag detection tray in the upper section, and push the two black handles {one at each end of the tray} toward the centre
  • Carefully pull the tray straight out – use the side handles, not the bag detection flaps

Close the FoodSaver

To finish the cleaning, lift the top section back into place, until it snaps

  • Close the front flap, so it snaps
  • Plug in the machine, so it is ready to use.
